APC Says There’s No Fuel Scarcity – As Scarcity of Petrol Bites Harder

   As Nigerians groan under a biting shortage of petrol, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), has said the product is available in abundance.  “There’s no ‘actual scarcity’,” the APC said in a statement on Twitter Friday afternoon, and blamed marketers and panic buying during yuletide holidays for the lingering scarcity. “Just some stakeholders hoarding allocated products in order to cause artificial scarcity + panic buying, for their own selfish interests. However, it’s unaccountable, even as relevant authorities are on the matter. Any inconvenience is regretted,” APC stated.   Unavailability of petrol has thrown the country into a renewed state of chaos for more than three weeks, despite several promises by the Buhari administration that it was in control of the situation.  The scarcity has seen petrol prices skyrocket from N145 maximum approved price to as much as N400 at the black market.   The EFCC has released Chief Innocent Chukwuma, CEO of INNOSON on bail. Chukwuma & his brother, Charles (who is at large) are being investigated by EFCC's Capital Market & Insurance Fraud Section for N1,478,366,859.66 fraud. He allegedly forged documents to secure tax waivers.

MAPOLY Students’ Protest: Police Take Over Panseke

  Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have intervened in the ongoing protest by students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta.   The personnel of the command took over the Panseke area of the state capital on Wednesday, one of the places where students have been protesting against the delay in holding their examinations since September.  To stop the protest and allow commercial activities, armed riot policemen were deployed in areas where the students protest, including Panseke which is a major market in the state capital.   Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the deployment was part of efforts by the Command to keep the peace in the state. “Since the so-called peaceful protest by the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has turned violent, the Ogun State Police Command in line with our constitutional duty has deployed policemen to strategic places in Abeokuta.

Mapoly: Student protest day2

  Some of the students arrested during the day2 protest tag #Blackweek,were today (yesterday) arraigned in court.   Funny enough, most of those paraded were not even students. They were passersby, apprentice and even a Corper with NYSC crested cloth was among. The POLICE goofed with the charges brought against the persons arrested read 'attempted murder'. The court frowned at such mischief and they had to take them back to the Police station to prepare another charge. The case never went on.

Innocent Chukwuma, Innoson Motors boss, arrested

  Law enforcement officers said to be from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Innocent Chukwuma, the founder and chairman of Innoson Motors. Reports say a spokesperson for the company, Cornel Osigwe, that Mr. Chukwuma was arrested at his residence in Enugu around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. “His arrest is in connection to the ongoing case he has with GTBank,” Mr. Osigwe said by telephone. Mr. Osigwe said his principal was accused of jumping bail, wondering how someone who was never invited by the EFCC much less being arrested would be accused of fleeing from the law. “He was never invited by the EFCC, we challenge them to come forward with any evidence showing that he jumped bail,” Mr. Osigwe said. “This is GTBank using federal authorities to persecute an illustrious citizen who has done a lot to improve the economic development of this country.” The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said he had not been briefed about the arrest.

Mapoly: Student Protest,Ground Business Activities

   The students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta (Mapoly) took to the street to protest the non-commencement of  their second semester examination over the pass three months. However business activities was grounded,vehicular movement restricted and banks shutdown their gate for fear of vandalism.   After the rector of the institution addressed the students in the school premises,the students insisted he follow them to the governor's office to confirm what he told them.  In the process of going,there was a misunderstanding between the police men and the students which led the CSO of the school to drive recklessly,he almost ran over some students,this act annoyed the students,this act however led to the burning of tyres and destroying of things. Russia 2018: Messi blasts Super Eagles
