Buhari, First African Leader to be Received by President Donald Trump

  Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is to meet President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday, the first African leader to be received by Trump’s White House administration. Buhari arrived Blair House, the US Presidential Guest House where he will be staying throughout his three-day working visit. Donald Trump and Buhari   Buhari was met on arrival by Mr. Aliko Dangote and Mr. Tope Shonubi of Sahara Energy at Blair House in Washington. All eyes will be on Trump after he earlier called African nations “shithole” countries, a damaging remark he has since denied. Trump’s relationship with the continent suffered a further setback in March when former secretary of state Rex Tillerson was fired while in Nigeria on his first trip to the continent. As a result, the visit revealed little about Trump’s Africa policy. Andres Iniesta Confirms Barcelona Exit

  Andres Iniesta has confirmed he is leaving Barcelona after 16 seasons at the club. The 33-year-old held a special press conference to announce his exit from Camp Nou, having won 31 major trophies during his time at the club. Iniesta   Iniesta joined Barcelona as a 12-year-old in 1996, working his way through La Masia before breaking into the first team in 2002-03.  The midfielder confirmed that the 2017-18 season would be his last, announcing: "This is my last season here. I have thought my decision through for a long time. "For me, Barca is the best club in the world - this club has given me everything."  Iniesta has been linked with a move to China, but reports in England have also speculated that his next move could be to Arsenal or Manchester City, with PSG also a possible destination.

Henri Michel Former Cameroon And Ivory Coast coach dies aged 70

   Former France midfielder Henri Michel, who coached eight countries during a 30-year managerial career, has died aged 70. He was capped 58 times by France and coached them from 1984 to 1988. Michel led France, Cameroon, Morocco, Tunisia and Ivory Coast at the World Cup, and also had spells in charge of the United Arab Emirates, Equatorial Guinea and Kenya. Michel won three league titles during a 16-year playing career with Nantes. Henri Michel   His coaching career began with the France team, who won gold at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. They also reached the World Cup semi-finals in 1986.   The spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Jimoh Moshood, has led at least 30 armed policemen to Zankili Medical Center, Mabushi, Abuja, where Dino Melaye is being treated. Jimoh Moshood   The Senator representing Kogi west was admitted into the hospital after he attempted to escape from police custody on Tuesday.   They stormed the premises and enquiring to know where Melaye was being treated. They also demanded those walking around to identify themselves. Also, the road leading to the hospital, has been barricaded by the gun-welding officers.

Dino Melaye Jumps Off a Police Van

  Senator Dino Melaye was on Tuesday admitted to  the Zanklin Hospital, Mabushi, Abuja, after he allegedly jumped off a moving police van at Area One Roundabout, Garki, in an attempt to prevent the police from taking him to Lokoja, Kogi State. He was said to have engaged the policemen in a scuffle during which he sustained injury leading to his admission in the hospital. Sen. Dino Melaye   The police were said to be taking him to Kogi State where they allegedly planned to parade him before the media along with six suspects for alleged gun running and criminal conspiracy.  On Tuesday morning, he surrendered to the operatives, who drove him away in a white Hiace bus followed by three other vehicles to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad facility at Guzape, Abuja. SARS Operative Arrest Dino Melaye

  The Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Dino Melaye, APC, Kogi West has been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS. Vanguard gathered that Senator Melaye was this morning, taken to the SARS detention facility located just opposite the old Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN junction along the Area 1 expressway. Dino Melaye   It was gathered that the Nigeria Police Force forcefully carried out the arrest of Melaye without an arrest warrant or court order. In a telephone conversation this morning, Senator Mekaye, however, sounded rattled, as background conversation suggested a struggle between himself and some of the operatives after which his mobile lines were switched off.   Recall that initial attempts were made by the police to arrest Senator Melaye after immigration officials disembarked him from a flight to Morocco on Monday morning.   Super Eagles star, Victor Moses, scored the winning goal, as Chelsea beat Burnley 2-1 on Thursday night. Antonio Conte’s men took a lead into half-time after a Kevin Long own goal in the 20th minute. Victor Moses   Burnley equalized through Ashley Barnes in the 64th minute. But Moses capped the win with a smashed finish soon after. The win takes the Blues five points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who occupy the last Champions League spot. Thugs Invade The National Assembly

  It was a drama at the national assembly when so hoodlums broke into the chambers when plenary was going on, to snatch the mace thereby creating serious confusion and tension. Shi’a Muslims And Security Forces clash over El-Zakzaky

   A clash between security operatives and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shi’a Muslims over the demand for the release of the detained leader of the group, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, has left scores dead and many wounded. Police    The clash followed a ban issued last Friday by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Sadiq Bello, on protests and rallies at the popular Unity Fountain, Abuja venue of the #freeZakzaky daily sit-outs. In the melee that ensued, security operatives drafted to enforce the police order used teargas, water cannons and live ammunition on the protesters.resulting in the casualties.

Abacha loot: Nigerian Government confirms receiving $322.51m from Switzerland

   The Federal Government has announced that it has received 322.51 million dollars from the Swiss Government as part of looted funds recovered from former Head of State, late General Sani Abacha. Oluyinka Akintunde, the Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the Minister of Finance, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.   Akintunde said there was no controversy surrounding the recovery of stolen funds by the former head of state from the Swiss Government. Former Katsina governor docked for alleged N11.5bn, pleads not guilty

   A former governor of Katsina state, Ibrahim Shema, was on Tuesday, April 10, arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He pleaded not guilty to 24-count charge filed against him at the court over an alleged financial misappropriation of local government funds amounting to N11.5 billion. The case was stood down for 15 minutes and was being observed by the court before proceedings would continue.  Some ex-heads of government agencies and some serving government officials were among those being quizzed by the EFCC men.   Also Thirty four former local government chairmen who were elected under the Peoples Democratic Party regime in the state are also being interrogated by the operatives.
