Goalkeeper Rob Green to Have Chelsea Medical

    Former England No 1 Rob Green is due to have a medical at Chelsea on Wednesday ahead of signing a year-long deal, as per reports. Rob Green   The 38-year-old, who was released by Huddersfield at the end of last season, will be a back-up to first-choice keeper Thibaut Courtois and reserve Willy Caballero.    Chelsea goalkeepers Eduardo and Jamal Blackman have already been sent out on loan leaving the way open for the former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers stopper to make a shock return to the top flight.  Courtois has been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid during the summer, and Chelsea have been rumoured to be chasing a replacement for the Belgian keeper.   Stoke's Jack Butland, who is valued at around £30m, is among a list of potential targets for Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri along with Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Gelson Martins Joins Atlético de Madrid

  Atlético de Madrid have announced an agreement with Gelson Martins. The Portuguese winger has joined our club as a free agent on a six-year deal.   At just 23 years old, Gelson has played 140 matches for Sporting CP and scored 27 goals and given 30 assists. He made his official debut for Sporting CP back in 2015 in the Taça de Portugal against Belenenses, when he was just 19 years old. In the 2015/16 season, Jorge Jesus gave Gelson his league debut in the first match of the season. The winger, born in Cape Verde, came on in the 90th minute and drew a penalty to give Sporting CP the win.   Not only has he had success in Portugal, but in European competitions as well. Despite Gelson’s young age, he’s already played 15 matches in the UEFA Champions League and six times in the UEFA Europa League.   The draws for the third qualifying round of the Europa League have been released.The draw was held in the Swiss city of Nyon, Monday evening.  Rangers will face the winners of the tie between Maribor and Chikhura Sachkere of Georgia if they beat their Croatian opposition over two legs in the second round. The Dons, Gers and Hibees must find a way past Burnley, Osijek and Asteras Tripolis respectively to book a place in the penultimate round of qualifying. Hibernian will face Molde of Norway or Albanian side KF Laci, while Aberdeen were handed a draw against Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir. The ties are set to take place on 9 and 16 August. England call up Chelsea’s Nigerian goalkeeper

 England has called up Chelsea’s Nigerian Under 16 goalkeeper, Kelechi Chibueze. The starlet, who is eligible to represent Nigeria, was called up by England for their international friendly against Croatia this month.   Chibueze is among five Chelsea starlets named on the roster by manager Kevin Betsy, the others being Levi Colwill, Samuel Iling, Jamal Musiala and Xavier Simons.   The goalkeeper was in goal for the Young Lions in Sunday evening’s fixture at the Branko Čavlović-Čavlek Stadium. The  Nigerian descent, was selected to be in goal ahead of another player  Tottenham Hotspur’s Tobi Oluwayemi.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants Juventus to sign Real Madrid defender

  Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told his new club to sign Real Madrid defender, Marcelo. Ronaldo  Ronaldo completed a £99million move to the Old Lady last week after nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu.   Spanish outlet, Sport reports that Ronaldo told Juventus to sign Marcelo on the day he completed his move to the club. The Portuguese captain and Marcelo were close friends in the Spanish capital. Marcelo has been linked with a summer move to Juventus, just a day after former Los Blancos team-mate, Ronaldo swapped the Spanish capital for Turin. The Brazilian international had fueled rumours that he could follow Ronaldo to Juventus by saying: “Soon we’ll be together again”, when Madrid confirmed Ronaldo was leaving. The left-back has already paid tribute to Ronaldo following the 33-year-old’s move to Juventus this summer.

Atiku promises to end Boko Haram as president

    Former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is aspiring to become President in 2019, said he would put an end to the Boko Haram crisis in the shortest time after his inauguration as Nigeria’s number one citizen. Abubakar, who is one of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, made the vow while addressing his supporters at the Forshams Hall, Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital. Atiku    He said, “Nigeria ended its civil war in only two and a half years despite the thick forest in the South-East. Chelsea Make Initial Contact to Sign Higuain

  Higuain   After landing the Ronaldo deal, Juventus are now focused on the possible departures from the squad.  An initial contact has in fact been made between Chelsea and the Bianconeri over Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to reliable reports. However, a negotiation is yet to start. FG Unveils New National Carrier

   The Federal Government of Nigeria on Wednesday unveiled the branding for the new national carrier, Nigeria Air, and stated that the airline would be inaugurated at the end of this year.    According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Aviation in Abuja, the Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, unveiled the carrier at a press conference during the Farnborough Air Show in London.  Sirika was quoted as saying, “I am very pleased to tell you that we are finally on track to launching a new national flag carrier for our country, Nigeria Air. We are all fully committed to fulfilling the campaign promise made by our President, Muhammadu Buhari, in 2015. We are aiming to launch Nigeria Air by the end of this year.

South-East govs: We won’t donate land for ranching

  Governors of the South-East states rose from a meeting in Enugu on Sunday evening with a decision that no land would be made available for the establishment of cattle ranches in the zone. The meeting, which held at the Enugu State Government House, had the governors of Enugu (Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi), Ebonyi (Dave Umahi) in attendance, while Abia and Anambra were represented by the deputy governors.   Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, was absent and was not represented by his deputy. The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, presented the association’s ‘template on restructuring’ to the governors at the meeting, which ended late on Sunday evening. Nigeria’s New National Airline To Start Operation Soon

   Nigeria proposed national airline for Nigeria is expected to start operation in the next few months.  The minister of state for aviation, Hadi Sirika said the proposed national airline for Nigeria would be unveiled before the end of the year.  Sirika, a former pilot, gave the assurance while receiving the outline business case certificate of compliance for the establishment of the airline from Chidi Izuwah, director-general, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).   The minister said the presentation of the certificate was a testament on how far the project had gone. The proposed airline will gulp $8.8 million preliminary cost and $300 million as take-off cost. The federal government is not fully funding the airline as it has adopted the option of a public private partnership, to deliver a national carrier that would stand the test of time and be world class in operation and management.

Luis Enrique Confirmed As New Spain Boss

  Luis Enrique has been confirmed as the new Spain national team's manager. The former Barcelona boss has agreed a two-year deal. Luis Enrique   The 2010 champions were knocked out by Russia in the last 16 after a campaign that began with the departure of Julen Lopetegui following his appointment as Real Madrid boss. Fernando Hierro took the job for the tournament but has not stayed on and Enrique has now been named as the new coach.   He will lead his country into the qualifying campaign for Euro 2020 and possibly into the next World Cup at Qatar.

Higuain's Agent Denies Chelsea Links

   Gonzalo Higuain's agent says the striker has not held talks with Chelsea or any other club for a move away from Juventus. Higuain    Reports claimed Higuain was set to make a move to the London club but his brother and agent, Nicolas, has denied the Argentina international is set to leave Turin.  The forward has been at Juventus since 2016, when he joined from another Serie A side Napoli and has scored 40 goals in 73 appearances.    Speaking to Sky Italy, Nicolas said: "We are not in talks with Chelsea. He [Higuain] wants to respect his contract with Juventus. It would be great to see Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo playing together again." Higuain and Ronaldo played together for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2013.   It has been suggested the Portuguese star could be set to leave the Bernabeu with his agent Jorge Mendes reportedly heading to Madrid for talks with Real's president Florentino Perez.

  National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has again reacted to the recent declaration by the Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC), saying that the leader of the group, Buba Galadima, cannot define the stakes for APC.   Oshiomhole, also added that the group can be ignored and the party will still win the general elections coming up in 2019. He said this, when he received in audience, a group of former state chairmen of Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), who came to show loyalty to the party. Oshiomhole said his leadership has started meeting with genuine members who have genuine grievances but can afford to ignore Engr Galadima’s group.
