   Super Eagles star defender, William Troost-Ekong was spotted in a tricycle popularly known as 'Keke Napep' in Port Harcourt Rivers state ahead of the Super Eagles World Cup clash with DR Congo. Troost   The Eagles defender, was spotted by NAIJ.com team in Port Harcourt today May 28 ahead of Nigeria crucial friendly match with the Leopards of DR Congo. Ekong, 24, a member of the popular 'oyibo wall' a name he shares with defensive colleague Leon Balogun is among the Super Eagles A list stars already in training preparing for the World Cup.  Super Eagles media officer and campaigner of the #SoarSuperEagles campaign Toyin Ibitoye was also on the back seat of the Keke Napep with Ekong. Catholic priest reportedly shot, students injured as gunmen attack seminary

   Two Catholic priests have reportedly been beaten and one shot in the leg by some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen, Some students were also injured while some cars were destroyed.  Director of Caritas Nigeria, an agency of the Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey has confirmed the terrible occurrence   There was a pandemonium in a minor seminary in Jalingo, Taraba state on Monday, May 28, when two Catholic priests were reportedly beaten, one shot in the leg by some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen. Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey, made this known in a WhatsApp message. He said: “Please Frs, pray for us. Our minor seminary in Jalingo has just been attacked by the Fulani, some students are injured, some cars destroyed, two priests beaten and one shot on the leg. They are currently receiving treatment at FMC.”

Musa Fires CSKA Moscow To UCL Spot

   Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa scored in CSKA Moscow’s 2-1 home win against Anzhi on the final day of the Russian Premier League season on Sunday. The win means CSKA finished second on 58 points in the league table and secure automatic qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League. Musa    Lokomotiv Moscow were crowned league champions despite losing 2-0 away to Arsenal Tula also on Sunday. Musa, who only rejoined CSKA Moscow on loan in January from Leicester City, opened scoring for his side on nine minutes.  Anzhi were back on level terms thanks to Arsen Khubulov in the 33rd minute. In the 61st minute, Vitinho scored what proved to be the winner for CSKA Moscow as they nicked automatic qualification ahead of Spartak Moscow who lost 1-0 at home to Dinamo Moscow.   Spartak secured a Champions League qualifying round spot for finishing third on 56 points. Musa’s goal against Anzhi was his seventh in 10 league appearances for CSKA.

Court Grants Dino Melaye Bail

  The Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has granted bail to the lawmaker representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye, in the sum of N10million. Justice Nasiru Ajanah granted Senator Melaye bail in his ruling on the application on Wednesday, based on the lawmaker’s health challenge. The presiding judge described the medical report of the lawmaker as a merit factor to grant the bail application. Dino Melaye    Weeks after being held in police custody, the judge, however, ordered Melaye to provide a surety in the like sum. He also ordered that the international passport of the surety be domiciled with the court. Senator Melaye is being charged by the police for allegedly arming deadly criminal gangs and convening a political rally that ended with the death of at least one attendee.  Earlier, the police said they had arrested suspects who confirmed that Mr Melaye had provided arms and financial support to them.

   Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Season. The award which was announced on the Premier League’s official website on Sunday means Salah becomes the first African to achieve the feat.    Super Eagles great Kanu Nwankwo was present at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, May 6 to honour Arsene Wenger in his last home game for Arsenal. In Wenger's last home game as Arsenal manager, the Gunners put in a very impressive performance to earn a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Burnley. KANU and WIFE    Kanu was signed by Wenger from Inter Milan in February 1999 and went on to make 119 appearances under the French manager.   The 41-year-old was among a host of other former Arsenal players at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday to honour Wenger in his last home game as Gunners’ boss after 22 years in charge.  Other former Gunners present include Freddie Ljungberg, Emmanuel Petit, Martin Keown, Robert Pires and Sol Campbell.    Malaysian Players Banned for 15, 20 years  respectively over betting, Fixing Offences Malaysian shuttlers Tan Chun Seang and Zulfadli Zulkiffli have received 15- and 20-year bans after being found guilty of offences relating to “betting, wagering and irregular match results”, Badminton World Federation (BWF) said on Wednesday. Zulfadli and Tan Chun   Tan and former junior world champion Zulkiffli were banned from any involvement in badminton, including administrative, coaching, officiating, and developmental functions.    An independent panel came to the conclusion that both players “engaged in corruption offences over a significant period and a significant number of tournaments” dating back to 2013, BWF said in a statement.  Zulkiffli has committed more code of conduct violations than Tan and had been proven to influence the results of four matches, it added.   Malaysian badminton was previously hit by controversy in 2015, when former world number one Lee Chong Wei rece

   Cristiano Ronaldo set yet another Champions League record on Tuesday when he made his 152nd career appearance in the competition. Cristiano Ronaldo   The Portugal star started the second leg of Real Madrid's semi-final against Bayern Munich, with the Blancos carrying a 2-1 lead from the first leg.  With the appearance, Ronaldo broke the record previously held by Barcelona legend Xavi for the most games played by an outfield player in Champions League history.   Former Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has the record for most appearances by any player with 167, meaning Ronaldo is on course to beat that mark in the 2019-20 season.   Ronaldo set another Champions League record just last week, becoming the player with the most wins in competition history.

Codeine Banned by The Federal Government

   Professor Isaac Adewole, the Minister of Health announced on Tuesday that the Federal Ministry of Health has directed the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to ban with immediate effect further issuance of permits for the importation of codeine as active pharmaceutical ingredient for cough preparations.   This is due to the gross abuse of codeine in the country. Instead, cough syrups containing Codeine should be replaced with dextromethorphan which is less addictive according to the Minister.  The Minister also ordered the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria and NAFDAC to facilitate the recall for labelling and audit trailing of all codeine-containing cough syrups in the country, while he has also banned sales of Codeine-containing cough syrup without prescription across the country.    He added that NAFDAC in an emergency meeting with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group were informed of the new embargo on all new applications for registration of

   Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has said Nigeria is on a terminal nose-dive and that its pilot, who he noted is missing, must cry for international help as many had advised. Soyinka, who stated this in a statement he issued on Sunday titled, “May Day! May Day!!
