Drama,Blackout as nomineee undergo screening

The Senate today, October 27, conducted another round of ministerial screening as six nominees answered question raised on the floor of the House.  A little drama took centre stage at the last ministerial screening exercise after former governor of Rivers state  Rotimi Amaechi kept PDP senators mum as he answered questions . In a similar vein, there was a mild drama today when one of the ministerial nominees, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani responsed to a question where he was asked if he has worked with any PDP senators. Usani’s response:  “God Forbid”,  was however greeted with extreme repugnance among the PDP senators. But the ministerial nominee was quick to tender an apology for his remark. In all, 31 ministerial nominees have been screened while 18 have been confirmed as ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Police have warned two pro-Biafran groups in Anambra State to cease operations or face arrest The police said the warning was issued to check the rampage of the members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in various parts of Anambra state. Waka music Originator, Queen Salawa Abeeni was involved in a major accident over the weekend. The fuji star who was quite popular in the 80’s and 90’s had at an accident at the City People Fashion Awards, which took place on Sunday, 18th of October 2015 at The New Westown Banquets, Ikeja. Sources said she arrived the venue and prepared to alight from her vehicle when she suddenly missed her footstep resulting to a high impact fall to the ground. She was reportedly rushed to one Triumph hospital on unity road, Ikeja for swift treatment. GoldmyneTV paid a visit to her at the hospital and were informed by the Doctors on duty about the stability of her health and they said she is out of danger and would be discharged soon. Rotimi Amaechi has been approved as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after being screened by the Nigerian Senate. The former Rivers governor and director general of the 2015 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign organisation, was approved after a series of questions had been asked by senators. There was mild drama at the beginning of the session as the minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus had no questions for the nominee, and this was immediately corroborated by the Senate leader, Ali Ndume, who asked Amaechi to take a bow and go. But other senators disagreed with him, stating that they would ask him questions irrespective of what the PDP caucus had stated. One person has been confirmed dead while others were injured during a stampede that occurred at a crusade by Nigerian pastor, Suleiman Johnson which held at the Reunification Stadium in Bepanda, Douala in Cameroon yesterday October 20th. According to reports, the roof of the stadium caved in immediately after the crusade ended which caused panic. People began rushing and pushing themselves. Those who were injured are receiving medical attention in various hospitals.

Court Postpones Saraki’s Case ‘Indefinitely’

The Abuja Appeal court has indefinitely postponed ruling on the case between the Senate president Bukola Saraki and the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). The court gave no reason for adjournment and to communicate a new date to all parties at a later date. In September, Saraki had approached the appeal court seeking to stop his trial for supposed false declaration of assets at the CCT. The Senate president was arraigned on September 22, after he tried ineffectively to use the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal to thwart his arraignment. Saraki was scheduled to return to the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Wednesday to face federal prosecutors who maintain that they have overwhelming evidence against him. The CCT has slammed a 13-count charge of corruption on Bukola Saraki.
