APC Says There’s No Fuel Scarcity – As Scarcity of Petrol Bites Harder

   As Nigerians groan under a biting shortage of petrol, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), has said the product is available in abundance.  “There’s no ‘actual scarcity’,” the APC said in a statement on Twitter Friday afternoon, and blamed marketers and panic buying during yuletide holidays for the lingering scarcity. “Just some stakeholders hoarding allocated products in order to cause artificial scarcity + panic buying, for their own selfish interests. However, it’s unaccountable, even as relevant authorities are on the matter. Any inconvenience is regretted,” APC stated.   Unavailability of petrol has thrown the country into a renewed state of chaos for more than three weeks, despite several promises by the Buhari administration that it was in control of the situation.  The scarcity has seen petrol prices skyrocket from N145 maximum approved price to as much as N400 at the black market. MAPOLY Students’ Protest: Police Take Over Panseke

  Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have intervened in the ongoing protest by students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta.   The personnel of the command took over the Panseke area of the state capital on Wednesday, one of the places where students have been protesting against the delay in holding their examinations since September.  To stop the protest and allow commercial activities, armed riot policemen were deployed in areas where the students protest, including Panseke which is a major market in the state capital.   Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the deployment was part of efforts by the Command to keep the peace in the state. “Since the so-called peaceful protest by the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has turned violent, the Ogun State Police Command in line with our constitutional duty has deployed policemen to strategic places in Abeokuta.

Mapoly: Student protest day2

  Some of the students arrested during the day2 protest tag #Blackweek,were today (yesterday) arraigned in court.   Funny enough, most of those paraded were not even students. They were passersby, apprentice and even a Corper with NYSC crested cloth was among. The POLICE goofed with the charges brought against the persons arrested read 'attempted murder'. The court frowned at such mischief and they had to take them back to the Police station to prepare another charge. The case never went on.

Innocent Chukwuma, Innoson Motors boss, arrested

  Law enforcement officers said to be from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Innocent Chukwuma, the founder and chairman of Innoson Motors. Reports say a spokesperson for the company, Cornel Osigwe, that Mr. Chukwuma was arrested at his residence in Enugu around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. “His arrest is in connection to the ongoing case he has with GTBank,” Mr. Osigwe said by telephone. Mr. Osigwe said his principal was accused of jumping bail, wondering how someone who was never invited by the EFCC much less being arrested would be accused of fleeing from the law. “He was never invited by the EFCC, we challenge them to come forward with any evidence showing that he jumped bail,” Mr. Osigwe said. “This is GTBank using federal authorities to persecute an illustrious citizen who has done a lot to improve the economic development of this country.” The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said he had not been briefed about the arrest.

Mapoly: Student Protest,Ground Business Activities

   The students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta (Mapoly) took to the street to protest the non-commencement of  their second semester examination over the pass three months. However business activities was grounded,vehicular movement restricted and banks shutdown their gate for fear of vandalism.   After the rector of the institution addressed the students in the school premises,the students insisted he follow them to the governor's office to confirm what he told them.  In the process of going,there was a misunderstanding between the police men and the students which led the CSO of the school to drive recklessly,he almost ran over some students,this act annoyed the students,this act however led to the burning of tyres and destroying of things. Russia 2018: Messi blasts Super Eagles

  The world has recorded yet another powerful milestone in medicine. The world’s first human head transplant has been carried out on a corpse in China, according to an Italian Professor Sergio Canavero.   Dr Xiaoping Ren, who grafted a head onto the body of a monkey in 2016, carried out the operation, which took 18 hours. Italian Professor Canavero, who is the director of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group, announced the success in a press conference in Vienna. Prof. Canavero said:  “The first human transplant on human cadavers has been done. “A full head swap between brain dead organ donors is the next stage and that is the final step for the formal head transplant for a medical condition which is imminent.” It had previously been hoped that 30-year-old Valery Spiridonov would be the first human to undergo the operation but the Russian decided he did not want to experience the surgery.   Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi has disclosed the reasons he snubed England for Nigeria after scoring a brace in the win over Argentina on Tuesday. The 21-year-old made the choice to play international football for Nigeria in 2015 despite featuring in  England’s youth teams. Iwobi admitted his family, including his uncle and former Bolton star, Jay-Jay Okocha, played a pivotal role in the decision. “I was growing up in England and England was the only national team I knew, so I was actually very pleased to play at national level,” Iwobi told Soccer Laduma. “However, my family are all from Nigeria, I was born in Nigeria, my uncle (Jay-Jay Okocha) is a legend in Nigeria. “That’s why I thought I would give it a chance. That’s why I went to the U23s and somehow felt more welcome, and I thought it’s where I belong, so I made the decision to switch.”

Mugabe’s removal: UN, US, UK react

  The United Nations, UN, United States of America and the United Kingdom have all reacted to the military coup in Zimbabwe. The military on Wednesday overthrew 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe  after seizing the National Radio Station on Tuesday. Mugabe has been in charge of the country for 37 years. The UN has consequently issued a security advisory, instructing its personnel to work from home. Some schools were closed and some students failed to sit for their final examinations, including at the University of Zimbabwe. Also, the UK foreign and commonwealth office has updated its travel advice to British nationals in Zimbabwe. It reads in part, “Due to the uncertain political situation in Harare, including reports of unusual military activity, we recommend British nationals currently in Harare to remain safely at home or in their accommodation until the situation becomes clearer. Argentina vs Nigeria: Super Eagles line up, formation revealed
