Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said the unemployment level in Nigeria has increased to 9.9% in the third quarter of 2015. This, experts say is due to factors such as corruption, unstable electricity supply, over dependency on crude oil and non diversification of the economy.
During the presidential campaigns earlier this year, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) said the present administration would pay the sum of N5,000 each to all unemployed graduates in the country.
Also, the acting director general of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Olakunle Obayan said the federal government will soon begin the registration of unemployed youths ahead of the payment of the planned N5,000 as social security stipend.
