Pedro hospitalised after suffering concussion in Arsenal friendly

Chelsea may have earned a 3-0 win over Arsenal in a pre-season friendly Saturday, but that victory came at a cost as Pedro was taken to hospital with a concussion after being punched by David Ospina in a challenge for the ball.

Ospina delivered an accidental hit to Pedro's face in an attempt to punch a crossed ball away from the edge of his box, bloodying Pedro's nose and mouth.

Blues boss Antonio Conte confirmed the news of Pedro's injury after the match but seemed optimistic that the Spanish winger could continue the club's Asian tour into Singapore.

"Pedro went to the hospital and for sure he should be okay but I think he had concussion," Conte said, as quoted by the Blues' official website. "For this reason, our doctor preferred to take him to the hospital and check him in the right way. It is a pity because in this period it is not good to have this type of injury but he should be okay. I am very happy for this.

"For sure he stays here (in Beijing) and then if the situation is OK he will come tomorrow to Singapore."
