The first FIFA rankings for the year 2015 has been released with the Super Eagles of Nigeria retaining their position but wouldn’t be too happy the likes of UAE and Uganda went above them. Super Eagles  The Super Eagles are still in 66th position but have dropped places in the African rankings. The team is ranked 14th in Africa and 66th in the world while the women’s team; the Super Falcons are ranked 37th in the world and first in Africa. The project is expected to be complete in 2016. The Chinese are building yet another massive construction project, this time, a scientific instrument that will be used to detect radio signals from outer space. According to scientists working on the project, FAST will be capable of detecting radio signals from tens of billions of light-years away. According to Nan Rendong, FAST’s chief scientist, “a radio telescope is like a sensitive ear, listening to tell meaningful radio messages from white noise in the universe. It is like identifying the sound of two Cadiz in a thunderstorm.” FAST is being built in a large depression with a diameter

  A luxury hotel in Dubai, the UAE, was engulfed in a fire in the evening of December 31, 2015. Multiple floors were immediately affected. The Address hotel is the sixth-tallest building in the city, with 63 floors 302 metres tall. It has about 200 rooms and over 600 apartments. It is located near the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa. Local media say the hotel and the nearby Dubai Mall have been evacuated. President Buhari has made it clear to Senators that he will not assent to the Social Media Bill being pushed forward by the senate. President Buhari made his position known through his Senior Special Assistant to Media and publicity Shehu Garba. He said the principle of the bill was inconsistent with democratic ideals of free speech enshrined in the Nigerian constitution, stressing that he had sworn while coming into office to uphold the dictates of the constitution. “He is not averse to lawful regulation, so long as that is done within the ambit of the constitution which he swore to uphold. The President won’t assent to any legislation that may be inconsistent with the constitution of Nigeria”, Garba said. He further explained that without free speech, elected representatives won’t be able to have a good connection with their electorates “As a key component of democratic principles are so emotionally attached to free speech that they would defend it with all their might”, he said.
